Bachelorette Party

I got up super early this morning to make this cake for a bachelorette party.

First football game of the year, first Gamecock cake. This one took me precisely 7 minutes to decorate. I guess you could say I've made a USC cake or two in my time!!!! Patti would be so proud of my speed!

Way to go, Cocks! 34-0! Way to start the season!!

Jill's Birthday Cake

Jilly's birthday cake is all finished! I'm actually pretty excited about taking it to her. Not really wanting to take it in this hurricane or tropical depression or monsoon or whatever it is, though. Heavy rains and winds do not make for easy cake delivery!!!!

The cake is banana on the inside, buttercream on the outside, per her request. She doesn't know anything about the decoration. I like to keep that a surprise every year! Jill loves Vegas, so I thought a slot machine would be perfect. This is actually a take off on the Hot Hot Penny machines that are popular out there. Hope she likes it!!!

Busy weekend!

It's been a busy couple of days in my kitchen, and things don't seem to be slowing down any time soon! Friday brought a double chocolate birthday cake and a Denny Hamlin NASCAR birthday cake. Today I made a baby shower cake to take to school tomorrow. It's pretty cute, as baby cakes go. I also started working on Jill's birthday cake. Her cakes are always challenging. I guess that's what happens when you make cakes for someone for so long. Every year, I try to top the cake from the year before. Come back soon to see the completed masterpiece!

A cake blog? Seriously?

People have been asking me for several years to make a website for my cakes. I decided that now was as good a time as any. It's nearly September and September is a VERY busy cake time for me! It might have something to do with the fact that my mom, dad, and sister all have birthdays in September! And of course, the most important birthday of all is coming up soon-MINE! And I have been known to make my own cake...

Things are going to be pretty busy in my kitchen for the next few days. Four cakes in five days!

Check back often! I'll be posting pictures of my cakes as I make them and I'll also be going back in time and posting some of my favorite cakes from years past.

For now, there's a cake on the counter that requires my attention. Chocolate on chocolate--one of my favorites!
